Building on rock carries its own set of challenges. High strength rock bolts are set into drilled holes. The footings for the columns are then poured.
Forms are built and the concrete is mixed by hand. It is then poured into the forms, bucket by bucket. Large machinery would damage the island landscape.
Materials are brought in by barge and must then be carried over the rocky terrain.
The floor and roof systems are hung from the erected piers
Roof is closed in.
Columns are veneered in stone and are visible inside as well as out.
